Slowly, I am accumulating more drawings of dogs. I don't want to just do them straight up like they would be posing for a mug/mut shot. I'd like to capture more of their personality. More of what might be a typical pose for the breed.

Nine Months Ago

The Girls and Me
By chance, not only a rare capture of me but an even rarer image of me with "The Girls". This was taken last autumn when, after too many years, we returned for a day to Algonquin, a place that holds many wonderful memories for me.

I had been taking some photos of some of my work and Art captured me unaware of what he was doing.
The Girls are only on leash because of the restrictions the park has on unleashed dogs. I can understand that but, as you see, they aren't going anywhere. And especially Roxy who I had to carry up the slightest incline. See those tree roots? Not always easy carrying a 27 lb. dog up and down and over all this. But it was worth it to see her happy face.

Bee and Constellations

Sparrow Avenue, Bee and Constellations Pouch

Hope you enjoyed a lovely summer weekend.

I had worked on some production of the new large pouches that seem to have attracted some good attention. I like the heave zipper and lining that I have been using.  Sturdy and long-lasting.

Another Dog Drawing

copyright Barbara Di Lella, Golden drawing, 2017
This week seems to have been mostly about dogs.
Here is another of the drawings that I have been working on.
Not quite finished.

Isn't she cute with her tongue hanging out like that?
Dead to the world
(what an awful expression!)

We were out the other day
and passed by a 1 year old Sheep Dog.
Very big!
Sonee was curious
but I know she's also nervous around
big dogs.
So I called to her: "Sonee"
And the Sheep Dog came to me.
Is your dog named Sonee, too?
Yes, indeed!

Never thought we would meet
a dog named Sonee.

Black and Gold

Sparrow Avenue, Large Black and Gold Bee Pouch
Production has started on these large pouches. In fact, they are slightly larger than the one I first showed last week.
I love this Bumble Bee with the "Constellations". Wasn't quite sure if they were Fire Flies, but I decided on constellations instead.
It is lined with a heavy linen/cotton fabric and has a wonderful sturdy antique brass zipper.
